Modern Slavery Policy
Hillswood Services is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and in our supply chain. This statement sets out the steps we take to identify and address that risk across our mechanical, electrical, public health and construction activities.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking, and we expect the same standard from every partner and subcontractor who works with us.
Our Business
We are an SME delivering planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and full turnkey M&E project solutions, including interior fit-outs, for public and private sector customers across the UK.
Our workforce is made up of directly employed staff and a long-standing network of specialist subcontractors, most of whom we have worked with for many years.
Assessing Risk
We consider the highest risk areas of our business to be labour supplied through agencies and lower-tier subcontractors, and the manufacture of materials and equipment sourced from outside the UK. These areas receive the greatest scrutiny during onboarding and review.
Due Diligence
Our supply chain controls are applied consistently and reviewed as part of our wider compliance process:
Verifying the right to work, identity and employment terms of everyone engaged on our contracts.
Requiring supply chain partners to confirm their compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 before engagement.
Paying all employees at or above statutory minimum rates, with no withholding of wages, documents or personal property.
Training & Awareness
Managers and site supervisors are briefed on the indicators of modern slavery and labour exploitation, and on the action to take if they have concerns about an individual working on one of our sites.
Concerns can be raised in confidence with any director without fear of retaliation, and will be investigated and, where appropriate, referred to the relevant authorities.
Approval & Review
This statement is made in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and is approved by the Managing Director. It is reviewed annually. For questions about this policy, contact us at info@hillswoodservices.co.uk.
