Carbon Reduction Policy

Hillswood Services is committed to reducing the carbon impact of our mechanical, electrical and public health work, our offices and our supply chain. This policy sets out how we measure, manage and reduce emissions across everything we deliver.

We review this policy annually, and our emissions reporting is prepared in line with the UK Government’s carbon reduction reporting guidance for suppliers to the public sector.

Our Commitment

We are working towards net zero carbon emissions, with interim reductions achieved through more efficient plant selection, lower-carbon site logistics and a measured reduction in fuel and energy use across our operations.

Carbon reduction is treated as a design consideration on every project. Where we upgrade chillers, air handling units, lighting or controls, we model the operational saving for our customers and recommend the option with the lowest whole-life carbon impact.

Measuring Our Emissions

We record energy use at our offices, fuel use across our vehicle fleet and waste generated on site. This baseline allows us to report year-on-year progress to our customers and to focus effort where reductions will be most effective.

How We Reduce Carbon

Our reduction activity is practical and focused on the areas we directly control:

  • Transitioning our fleet to lower-emission and electric vehicles, and planning works to reduce journeys to site.

  • Specifying energy-efficient plant, LED lighting and intelligent controls as standard on upgrade and replacement projects.

  • Segregating and recycling site waste, and reusing or recovering materials wherever it is safe and practical to do so.

Working With Our Supply Chain

We engage our supply chain partners on carbon, favouring suppliers who can evidence their own reduction measures and who can provide low-carbon product alternatives.

Our teams and subcontractors receive guidance on efficient working practices, responsible material use and correct waste handling as part of our standard site inductions.

Accountability

Responsibility for this policy sits with the Managing Director. Progress is reviewed by the leadership team and shared with customers on request. For questions about our carbon reduction commitments, contact us at info@hillswoodservices.co.uk.
